Quick Hits Organization
"Spring Cleaning"
It's time for spring cleaning! Purge, purge, purge those files. Quickly look through and eliminate the boxes left over from a predecessor or your last move. In fact, we recommend organizing a "Merge N' Purge" Day at the office to get everyone involved with the process of making the place look more inviting and less of a fire hazard. Doing the process now will take advantage of the higher energy of spring! Call or email for your free copy of the Equinox Merge N' Purge" Process.
Taming the Email Filing Monster
Filing and purging your email, except for anything still requiring your attention, has the same effect as clearing your physical desk top; a reduction in your stress...a sense of control... and a more productive focus on the work yet to do. Here are 7 steps to accomplishing the usually large feat:
- Blind copy yourself on all correspondence, to avoid hunting in sent items for your half of a message and incoming files for their part.
- Put all like, incoming messages together in their own file; create files and sub-files to delineate the work clearly.
- Drag and drop email into their respective files as you read them and complete your responses.
- If you get behind in your email filing, allot 15-minutes for clean up and file as many as you can in that time frame. (Set a timer if needed!)
- Attempt to empty your email in box, at least weekly.
- If you have hundreds or more email dating back a considerable time, group them by year or quarter and file them by date (for old email only).
- Be vigilant! Keep on the task until you only have a few email left in your in box, everything else in a logical file and keep up with it regularly!
Quick Hits Balance
"Balance"
You may have spent even more time in the office over our "months of hibernation," otherwise known as winter, but now it's time to come out to play. Think about the activities that will bring you personal balance and revitalize you. You will find a greater sense of satisfaction and you will also be more productive during the time you are working. This change is a process, not an immediate shift; so start with a list of 3 things you will do to improve your personal balance. Keep the list in a place you see often enough to be gently reminded. Then, simply intend to add those 3 changes into your life and go on about your business. You will be pleasantly surprised if you take notice of the subtle shifts you make toward bringing in more personal balance to your hectic life.
Quick Hits Goals
"7 Steps to Accomplishing Goals"
- Clear away any and all clutter.
- Take quiet breaks for at least 10-20 minutes per day.
- Dream your intended outcome.
- Always have a written plan for both personal and professional goals.
- Create visual reminders of important goals (try pictures, NOT another stack of paper).
- Review the plan. Tweak the plan.
- Acknowledge your progress and those who help you get there.
Just 3 Goals
Have you given yourself time and space to dream about your future? And do you have a written game plan to make those dreams come true? If not, start today!!! No matter what your life looks like now, creating a visual plan will help you accomplish your dreams faster. List 3 things you would love to see happen this year. And if they do happen, you would say the year was a success. Keep t he list in a place you will see often. The subtle reminder will help you make them happen, even with a busy life that sometimes feels like there is no hope of adding one more thing to do. If you don't make a plan for your own personal success, you leave yourself in the hands of someone else guiding all your time. Create your own destiny...start your plan!
Goal Check-In
It's only one month until the beginning of 4th quarter. Time to check in on your goals, strategy, objectives for the year to see how you're doing. Keep them close at hand with an eye on completion. You still have time to finish! What can you focus on to assure your most powerful ending to the year? At the same time, start to create next year's goals and objectives. If you wait until November or December, the additional activities of holidays will be upon us and may interfere with your successful completion of important goals. Start now! Dream big! Have fun! Pick just 3 things that would make you very happy. If those 3 things are accomplished, you would say it was a great year! Have those 3 goals drive next year.
"Holiday Prep"
Use the 4th quarter to wrap up your year powerfully and start planning next year, so you can "hit the ground running," come January 1st. Make holiday lists now for friends, clients and loved ones you'll be giving gifts and sending cards to, so you don't make yourself ill trying to get everything done come November and December. And above all, be gentle on yourself. Book appointments now for the massages, facials, athletics, etc....things that you know will support you through the hectic 4th quarter!
